Recently hubs and I went to the wedding of one of his high school friends- odd chance of events that they got married in New Orleans and we were able to attend- and I was so happy to FINALLY meet the bride & her family after 13 years! It was a whirlwind of an evening and such a beautiful, intimate ceremony with an amazing group of friends & family from all over. Not nearly enough time to spend with them catching up and getting to know them, but so amazing meeting them all. Fast forward a couple weeks and the newly-weds are now visiting my home. It was such a mile stone for me- to host his Cincinnati friend. It is such a treat to be in their company- I don't think they have ever met a stranger, but I felt honored to actually feel the love that they generate. It was very surreal to host the newly-weds in my home for an evening (huge thanks to hubs & step-daughter for making sure the place looked great! I had to work all day.) of catching up, getting to know each other, and great food. I absolutely loved sitting around my kitchen table (which I need a new one of- better go add that to the priority list) and chatting. Kitchen table socializing is the absolute best to me- and anyone who can pry my husband away from the TV for an evening is f'ing amazing really- I feel like I've really reached adulthood when I have people at my house, at my table.
I am also getting that feeling that everything is coming together in my life. I feel like it is all falling into place- and yes I will have to work to keep it there, but I finally feel an inner peace about things with the finances, home life, and work. It is like I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and it really is getting brighter. There is still a long way to go, but I am feeling that it is within reach. Maybe by 35 it will all be there. Of course the way things have gone it could all be over tomorrow and I will be at a loss again, but I may not be, so I will take it all in stride and keep making my way through the world.
Trying to get my home together and set a good foundation for the girls.

New Year, New Me?
Well 2013 is here and we started off pretty uneventful with some fireworks with the neighbors- seems like it is the only time we get together with these neighbors, we need to change this. Hubs decided that the whole family needs to get organized, so we spent New Year's Day cleaning out the garage and our bedroom. We decided to make more space in our bedroom by putting his dresser into his closet- Wow. That just opened up the bedroom SO much! Now I have a little more room to work out in there :D. While I was working on his closet the bedroom, he and the big one cleaned out the garage so my car fits in there now!! So happy to have my garage back from Christmas (we have to remove furniture from our living room to put the tree in so I lose my parking spot). I really wish I would have gotten some before & after photos.
I have spent a lot of time on Pinterest this past year looking for some organizing tips & tricks and finally found something that I think will work! This post over at One Creative Housewife is what I have been looking for and makes me want to run out to the store to buy most of this!!
I love, love, LOVE this set up! And the location is perfect for me- I just never thought about putting ANYTHING in that blank spot behind the garage door. This way it will be close to the counter but not ON the counter- Ahhhhh!
The last thing from 2012 is ME. I am not really one to brag much, but I am actually very proud of my accomplishments in weight loss and fitness- I have lost about 36 pounds, ran my first 5K, and have really changed my outlook on food. Now to work on getting rid of fast food in my life...
